Conveyancing Foundation Shortlisted for Prestigious Investors in People Awards 2016

The third annual Investors in People Awards in 2016 recognised the Conveyancing Foundation; shortlisted in the category of Excellence in Social Responsibility (249 employees or less). The Foundation, which was established in 2015 by Conveylaw conveyancers, is a non-profit organisation which aims to encourage other conveyancing firms to emulate Conveylaw's fundraising efforts. The team at Conveylaw has raised more than £350,000 for chosen charities over a period of five years and wanted to help others in the industry to match those efforts. The Conveyancing Foundation assists businesses in raising funds in a number of ways, either for the Foundation’s chosen charities or for their own nominated charity.

Investors in People

The Investors in People Awards was established in order to officially recognise those companies that make outstanding contributions to social responsibility and people management. Finalists must be able to demonstrate their commitment to people and social responsibility in ways that are driven from the very top and rooted in the entire culture of the organisation. The distinctive laurel mark is symbolic of industry excellence and finalists are recognised as outperformers in their field.

The Conveyancing Foundation Shortlisting

The Conveyancing Foundation was shortlisted in recognition of very particular achievements. Not only has the Foundation raised astonishing sums of money for charities, but it has been able to initiate an engaging company-wide fundraising program. Launched as a platform to assist other conveyancing firms to achieve fundraising targets similar to those of Conveylaw, the Foundation operates a wide variety of fundraising initiatives. These include the Free Legal Fees Charity Competition, which has the potential to bring in thousands of donations each year. Judges at the Investors in People Awards stated that they were particularly impressed with this innovative idea, which seeks to initiate change not just at company level but industry-wide.

Sponsorship Opportunities 2016

Alongside the Free Legal Fees Charity Competition, the Conveyancing Foundation offers unique opportunities for businesses to become involved in fundraising. One of these occasions is through sponsorship of events run over the course of each year. Companies can choose to sponsor an event through a range of packages graded from Bronze to Platinum. To become a Bronze sponsor, companies donate the sum of £500. In exchange for this, a promotional link to the company website is included on the Conveyancing Foundation’s own site. Platinum sponsors donate the sum of £5,000 to sponsor their chosen event. For this they receive prominent advertising on the kit of participants as well as promotional materials on the website. Foundation events in 2016 included the Cardiff to Dublin Ride to the Rugby Challenge, the Cardiff to Colchester Cycle, the Midnight Walk and Rainbow Run and the UK Three Peaks Challenge. More information about the individual packages can be seen in the infographic accompanying this post.

Fundraising Targets

The 2016 objective for the Conveyancing Foundation is to raise at least £150,000 for charity through a combination of the Free Legal Fees Charity Competition and a series of fundraising events. In 2017, the Foundation is aiming to promote the Free Legal Fees Charity Competition further, engaging with all UK conveyancing firms to reach a target of £40,000 in funds raised each calendar month.

Chosen Charities

The Conveyancing Foundation works to raise funds for a number of UK charities each year. A full list of those chosen charities can be found in the PDF attachment to this post. Conveyancers that opt to take part in the Free Legal Fees Charity Competition can donate to these charities, or they can choose their own. Whilst companies are free to select those charities that they feel most passionate about, the Trustees of the Foundation maintain an obligation to ensure that each charity is appropriate in terms of the values of the Foundation.

Free Legal Fees Charity Competition

The Free Legal Fees Charity Competition is one of the biggest fundraising initiatives of the Conveyancing Foundation. Each participating conveyancing business asks every client upon completion of their transaction if they would like the chance to be entered into a monthly prize draw. The cost of entry is £10 per client, of which £1 goes to the actual lottery. The remaining £9 is a charitable donation, which when an additional Gift Aid contribution is added, makes a total of £11.25 awarded to charity. Each month, all entrants are placed into a prize draw and the winner receives a voucher for £500 towards their legal fees.

The prestigious Investors in People Awards only recognise those teams that have made outstanding contributions in their category. Conveylaw and the Conveyancing Foundation’s managing director, Lloyd Davies, thanked his entire team, commending their dedication to raising funds for good causes and supporting numerous charities across the UK over the past five years.
